Steven Van Wyk was HSBC’s Group Chief Information Officer and a Group General Manager, heading up the Bank’s Technology function globally. Technology is rapidly evolving, with customers expecting to interact more quickly and securely with their service providers. Steve was leading HSBC Technology strategy, enabling the delivery of an efficient, resilient and innovative digital bank, delivering value for their customers.
Steve has more than 30 years of senior-level domestic and international experience managing IT organizations. He spent eight years with PNC Financial Services Group where he was the Head of Technology and Innovation, seven years with ING Groep N.V., a multinational banking and financial services corporation as Global CIO, and 10 years with Morgan Stanley, including several years as CIO/COO of its Individual Investor Group with responsibility for technology and operations for the retail division.
Steve holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Business Management and Accounting with a minor in Computer Science from the University of Central Iowa. He is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor and holds a Series 27 Financial/Operations Principal license. Active in the industry, Steve serves on the Board of the Reinsurance Group of America (RGA), a leader in the Global Life Reinsurance industry.
Steve and his wife Sheila have been married more than 40 years and have three adult children Lyndsey, Jordan and Cameron. He is an active member of his church, enjoys sketching and is a passionate advocate for people with special needs.
